Kaiserschmarren with STAUD’S Plum Compote
Kaiserschmarren is the kind of dish that invites everyone to gather around the pan. Fluffy pancake pieces and a spoonful of plum compote make a comforting dessert or a leisurely brunch. Bring both to the table and let everyone help themselves.
Makes: 2–4 servings
Ingredients
- 5 eggs, separated
- 200 g flour
- 250 ml milk
- 1 packet baking powder
- A splash of sparkling mineral water
- A small splash of rum
- 2 packets vanilla sugar
- 50 g butter
- STAUD’S Zwetschken Röster (Plum Compote), to serve
- Powdered sugar, to finish
How to make it
- Whisk egg whites to stiff peaks.
- Mix yolks with flour, milk and baking powder. Stir in mineral water, rum and vanilla sugar.
- Gently fold in the whites.
- Melt butter in a large skillet. Add batter and cook over medium heat until it begins to set.
- Break into bite-size pieces and turn until cooked through. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with gently warmed plum compote.
