Regular price $99.95The traditional costume with the smoker's bollen hat comes from the three Protestant communities of Gutach, Kirnbach and Reichenbach in the Kinzig Valley in the Black Forest. It is a church costume of the Protestant enclave to distinguish it from its Catholic surroundings. The girls wear the hat with the glowing red wool balls for the first time during their confirmation; then on all ceremonial occasions until the wedding. When the women are married, they wear a black bollen hat. Two ribbons, tied under the chin, ensure that the hat with its 11 wool roses fits correctly. In addition to the striking hat, the costume includes a white shirt with puff sleeves, a black camisole with woven flowers and finally the chobe, a short black silk jacket and a calf-length skirt.
