This attractive tin of calissons and fruit jellies in a pretty checkerboard pattern (‘damier’) would make a lovely gift… or an indulgent treat!
These two types of gourmet confectionery are traditional to – and much loved – in Provence. Calissons are made with finely ground almonds and candied fruit, topped with a thin layer of icing. Their texture is smooth and soft and their flavour can be likened to a quality marzipan, but with a fruitier, melon-like flavour and not overly sweet.
The fruit jellies are known as ‘pâtes de fruits’ and are made with natural fruit pulp and natural fruit flavors, including apricot, raspberry and blueberry. With their high fruit content, these soft and chewy sweets have wonderful fruit aromas and intensely fruity flavors.Weight: 120 g. / 4.23 oz.
