Appel Farms Whole Milk Soft Cheese Quark
Appel Farms Whole Milk Soft Cheese Quark is a fresh soft cheese that is similar to a cross between sour cream and cream cheese; almost like Greek yogurt but without the tart flavor. Quark is German for “fresh curd" and is pronounced “kvahrk.” Many cultures have their own versions of Quark. You may see it labeled with one of these names: Tvorog, Twaróg, Quarck, Qark, Tyros, Tyr, Turo, Tvarog, Topfen, Plattekaas, Kwark, or Kvark.
Quark can be considered a superfood because it’s low calorie, low in lactose, has little-to-no sugar or salt, and is high in protein. In addition, Quark is a great source of calcium (a boost for your bones, hair, teeth and muscles), phosphorus (a reinforcement for cells and tissues), Vitamin A (a bonus for your immune system and vision), and Vitamin B (a support for your blood cells and nervous system). It’s also loaded with probiotics (good for your digestive health and brain function).
The creamy texture of Quark absorbs and retains flavors extremely well, making it wonderful for baking in cheesecakes, lasagnas, and quiche. It is also delicious in dips, spreads, smoothies and as a topping on soups and tacos.
